McKelvey helps students move into their preferred career paths by leveraging a rich ecosystem of corporate, clinical, industry and alumni relationships in research, curriculum and recruitment, including:

Partnering with major defense and aerospace contractors, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin and geospatial intelligence firms.
Nurturing active corporate recruiting pipelines through the McKelvey Industry Connect platform. Companies regularly sponsor capstone design projects, fund research and recruit AI talent directly. These include tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon and Apple and major consulting firms such as Accenture, Deloitte and MasterCard.
Connecting with the Cortex Innovation Community, just minutes from campus, which houses 400 companies, technology incubators and corporate innovation centers. McKelvey students frequently pursue internships or even launch startups at Cortex.
Embracing St. Louis as a burgeoning tech, geospatial and biomedical hub. Students have many opportunities to secure co-ops, internships and other practical training opportunities while studying.

Research neighborhoods

Research neighborhoods in McKelvey Hall are ideally suited for computer science research. The neighborhoods replace traditional walls with open spaces and moveable partitions, bringing together collaborative groups while maintaining maximum flexibility for the changing needs of cutting-edge research.
Bytes Café

On the first floor of McKelvey Hall, a café with comfortable seating and a welcoming atmosphere invites students, faculty and staff to relax and enjoy refreshments. Spacious windows in the seating area fill the café with natural light and provide views to the Engineering Quad and the Tisch Park to the west.
Flexible student spaces

The second floor of McKelvey Hall features places for students in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering to study, meet and share ideas. These spaces are designed for a wide range of uses, including large audience presentations in the Judith Hood McKelvey Commons.
